Back in November I had kind of had enough. I was going to try and lose some weight, but then we started trying for another baby so I just kind of put the weight thing on the back burner. Well 6 months later, no bun in the oven and I have gained 8 more pounds.
So, I have decided to focus more on eating healthier and being more active. For me, the first step is what I buy and what I eat. Rob and I have gotten so wrapped up in having a strict grocery budget, I am buying nothing but crap. And as far as meat, I have really only been buying ground beef, steaks or chicken breast. We used to make turkey burgers all the time and really liked those. I just picked some up at *BEEP* and I can't believe how great they are for you. They may have zero fiber, but they are large, only 200 calories and 35 grams of protein! I got some whole wheat buns and we are going to have them tonight with salad.
I also got some really good veggie burgers that are only 3 points! I have had them on the foreman with a slice of cheese (no bun) for lunch the past few days and they are really good. Rebecca even loves them.
Another thing I find has been happening is when I buy my produce, half of it goes bad. I buy a bag of grapes but the bags at the store are so full, we never eat them all before they're growing mold. Same thing with potatoes. Even if I buy the smaller 3 lb. bag, they always seem to go bad before I get to the end of them.
When I made Rebecca's baby food, I was buying all organic fruits and vegetables. But I stopped buying them because it was getting hard to find a good variety and they were so expensive at the grocery store. I just discovered a organic produce delivery service called Door to Door Organics. I am going to start with their "bitty box", every other week, and we get our first delivery on Wednesday. What I like about it is that it is smaller amounts of lots of different things, and it changes week to week depending on what is in season. You can also make substitutions if you don't like something that is offered, and if you want more, you can just add extra things. And you do your whole order online so it is super easy!
I started on Saturday kind of writing down what I am eating, and trying to stay within WW points range. I was over about 10 points each day but I walked Saturday, did a ton of yard work Sunday, and walked today.
Since Saturday, I have already lost 3.6 lbs.
